The staff here are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. As a beginner hiker, I was looking for guidance, and the employee I spoke with (I didn’t catch his name) was fantastic. He took the time to explain which boots or hiking shoes would best suit my needs, letting me try on several pairs. In the end, I found a pair of boots that are perfect for the beginner hikes I’m excited to start exploring.

I originally called this store needing help ordering some climbing gear. From the very first moment, Frank went way out his way, assuring I was in good hands and would be able to order the right stuff. The owner of the store, Kevin, was also very helpful and understood my time sensitive situation. Going forward, they are still there to help with any climbing questions I have and look forward to them being my only destination for climbing gear.

My two sons and I stopped in to get a few things for a backpacking trip. I can't even explain what a positive experience it was, but I'll try. First of all, Frank made sure to show us the cheapest options to save us money. Secondly, he is immensely knowledgeable about anything to do with backpacking and equipment, and was happy to take the time to explain everything from filtration systems to pocket knives to backpack adjustments to waterproofing in raincoats and hiking boots to me and my kids in terms we could understand. His enthusiasm was contagious and now we are all looking forward to our trip and excited about our new gear. Thanks Frank!!!!

I’m not one to post a review for a store but Gear for Adventure Amherst really went out of their way for great customer service. I was given tons of advice by a wonderful employee who had tons of backpacking experience. We spent a good deal of time sizing and trying backpacks. There was no pressure to purchase anything or rush to hurry up. Store was clean and had tons of gear!
